Birthday: “A Mother Whose Grace Flows Like Olókun’s River” - Hon. SOJ Celebrates Ayaba Olayinka Mutiat Ladoja at 70

The drums of celebration echo across Ibadanland as a jewel of the city, Her Excellency, Chief (Mrs.) Olayinka Mutiat Ladoja (Ayaba), marks her 70th birthday anniversary. The moment is one of cultural pride, reverence, and thanksgiving to God for a life that has blessed countless souls.
Among the distinguished voices paying homage is Hon. Olusoji Olusegun Alade, fondly called Hon. SOJ, a PDP stalwart in Ibadan North Local Government, the Social Secretary of the historic Omo Aj’Orosun Club, and the 2025 Champion of Ibadan Culture.
To Hon. SOJ, Mama Ladoja is not only a political matriarch but also a mother-figure whose influence has shaped his path since his younger days.
“Àgbà kì í wà lọ́jà, kí orí ọmọ tuntun wo” - When elders are present in the marketplace, the head of a newborn does not go crooked.
“Mama has been that elder in my life and in the lives of many of us. Her presence brings guidance, comfort, and direction. From my youthful years till now, I have savoured her warmth and motherly counsel. At 70, she radiates the youthfulness of a 40-year-old, which can only be explained by the unfailing grace of God,” Hon. SOJ declared.
In Ibadan tradition, longevity with relevance is seen as a crown of honour. Mama Ladoja embodies this. Her beauty, wisdom, and compassion continue to shine brightly, making her a beacon for women, youths, and the political class alike.
“Ojú rere kì í péjú, ìwà rere ni yóò pé” - Beauty may fade, but good character endures forever.
“Mama’s character, humility, and generosity are what make her truly ageless. Her kindness to the needy, her support for the vulnerable, and her loyalty to her people stand taller than Olumo Rock,” Hon. SOJ remarked with pride.
As the former First Lady of Oyo State, Ayaba Olayinka Mutiat Ladoja has carved her name into the heritage of Ibadanland. Her role as a pillar beside her husband, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Olubadan of Ibadanland, and her devotion to community development have made her a matriarch worthy of celebration.
Hon. SOJ, deeply rooted in Ibadan culture, offered prayers with a cultural flourish:
“Ìbàdàn ò kí í bàjẹ́, ẹni t’ó bá ní kí Ìbàdàn bàjẹ́, yóò bàjẹ́ lọ́wọ́ ara rẹ̀. Mama, as you clock 70, may your strength be renewed like the eagle. May you continue to eat the fruits of your labour in peace, and may your children and those you have nurtured rise to honour you. You will live long in health and joy, and posterity will call you blessed.”
In conclusion, Hon. SOJ described Mama Ladoja as an Olúyìnbó Ibadan, a priceless treasure of Ibadan whose legacy of compassion, strength, and grace will continue to inspire generations.
"Happy 70th birthday, Mama. You are not just a mother to the Ladoja family but to all of us. May you remain forever young at heart, glowing with God’s abundant grace.”
With songs of praise, with proverbs of heritage, and with heartfelt gratitude, Hon. SOJ joins Ibadan sons and daughters in celebrating Ayaba Olayinka Mutiat Ladoja, a true daughter of Ibadanland, now at the blessed age of 70.
