The Champion of Ibadan Culture, Hon. Olusoji Olusegun Alade (Hon. SOJ), has expressed deep appreciation to friends, political leaders, associates, family members and cultural institutions who celebrated him with love, prayers, gifts, goodwill and heartfelt gestures as he marked his birthday.

In an appreciation message personally signed and made available to BishopWeeMedia, Hon. SOJ described the outpouring of affection he received as humbling and overwhelming, noting that the celebrations reaffirmed his belief in service, unity and collective progress.

He began by specially acknowledging the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, appreciating their steadfast support, leadership and encouragement over the years.

“I sincerely appreciate the leadership of our great party, the People’s Democratic Party in Oyo State and Ibadan North Local Government, for their guidance, support and confidence in me. Your leadership continues to inspire loyalty, discipline and purposeful service,” he wrote.

Hon. SOJ also extended profound gratitude to the stakeholders & leaders of the PDP and various Office Holders (Elected and Appointed) across Oyo State, noting that their goodwill, prayers and solidarity strengthened his resolve to remain committed to the ideals of the party and the welfare of the people under the able leadership of His Excellency, Gov. Seyi Makinde.

A major highlight of the birthday celebration was a private surprise birthday visit hosted in his honour by the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), the foremost socio-cultural body of Ibadanland. The CCII had earlier, in 2025, conferred on him the prestigious title of Champion of Ibadan Culture, in recognition of his unwavering commitment to the preservation, promotion and celebration of Ibadan heritage.

According to Hon. SOJ, the gesture by the CCII deeply touched him.

“I am eternally grateful to the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) for the honour bestowed on me as Champion of Ibadan Culture and for honouring me with a private surprise birthday bash/visit. Being described as an illustrious son of Ibadanland whose wisdom and contributions cannot be ignored is a responsibility I do not take lightly,” he stated.

The surprise birthday visit was planned by the Planning Committee of the 2026 Ibadan Cultural Festival, led by the Immediate Past Vice President of Ọmọ Aj’Orosun Club, Mógàjí Moshood Gbolagade Akere, who serves as the Chairman of the Committee. Hon. SOJ commended the committee for their thoughtfulness, organisation and commitment to celebrating Ibadan culture and its ambassadors.

He further appreciated members and supporters of the SOJ Movement, describing them as a pillar of encouragement and a source of strength.

“To every member of the SOJ Movement, I say thank you for believing in the vision, for standing firm and for walking this journey with me. Your loyalty and support are deeply cherished,” he noted.

Hon. SOJ did not fail to acknowledge the immense role played by his friends, family and associates, thanking them for celebrating him with sincerity, elegance and genuine affection.

“I was celebrated with gifts, prayers, goodwill, guile and poise. Every call, message, visit and prayer meant so much to me and my family,” he added.

In an emotional conclusion, he reserved special appreciation for his wife and children, describing them as his greatest support system.

“To my wife, Adeola Oluwatosin Alade, and our precious children, thank you for being my anchor, my strength and my constant source of joy. Your love makes every journey worthwhile,” he wrote.

Hon. Olusoji Olusegun Alade concluded by praying for everyone who celebrated him, wishing them divine blessings, good health and fulfilment, while reaffirming his commitment to service, culture and the collective advancement of Ibadanland and Oyo State at large.
