Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, the executive chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, has continued his comprehensive school inspections, focusing on enhancing the quality of education for the pupils.

The ongoing inspection, which began on June 11, 2024, includes visits to several primary schools to assess their conditions and identify challenges firsthand.

The most recent inspections took place today at St. Mary Primary School 1 and 2, Oke Are, where Hon. Olufade engaged with the headmistresses regarding the school's challenges.

The headmistresses highlighted issues such as unauthorized access by local residents, who often misuse the school grounds, and significant infrastructural deficits.

Following this, the chairman visited St. Peter Primary School 1 and 2, Oke Are. While the infrastructure here was somewhat better, similar issues of unauthorized access and inadequate facilities were noted.

Hon. Olufade then proceeded to Islamic Mission School 1 to 4, Odo Oye, and concluded the day at Salvation Army Basic School 1, 2, and 3, Yemetu.

At each location, he observed similar problems, including a lack of fencing, insufficient toilet facilities, teacher shortages, and the need for improved security and teaching materials.

During his inspection, Hon. Olufade stated, "I embarked on this inspection to personally assess the condition of our schools and ensure effective solutions within the local government's capacity."

He reassured that with the recent approval of a 3.5 billion naira support grant by Governor Seyi Makinde for the renovation of 105 primary schools, significant improvements are imminent.

Additionally, the governor has approved the recruitment of 7,000 new teachers to address staffing shortages.

Hon. Olufade commended the headmistresses and headmasters for their dedication and encouraged them to continue their vital work in educating future leaders.

He promised that visible interventions would soon take place to resolve the highlighted challenges.

The inspection included notable local government officers such as Mrs. Ogeroju M.A., Mr. Oguntunji E.A., Education Officer Mr. Idowu, Sunmbo Oladiti, Mr. Oladiti Olasunbo Biliaminu, Mr. Idowu Adewale, and Lala Olufunmike Foluso, Head of Unit, Information.

Also present were Hon. Olufade’s Special Assistant on Education, Oloye Ademola Titilope Ajibola, his Head of Media, Aderibigbe Yisahu Ajibola, and media member Ayodamope Afolabi.
