In a significant development, Rashidi Ladoja, the former governor of Oyo State and current Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, has accepted the revered bearded crown.

A former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Rasheed Ladoja has accepted to receive a beaded crown as contained in the gazette of Olubadan Chieftaincy review law.

Ladoja, who is the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland said the gazette was not done to Witch-huntsl by Governor Seyi Makinde as being peddled by rumour mongers.

This decision marks a new chapter in Ladoja's esteemed career and his role in Ibadan's traditional hierarchy.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred when a driver, allegedly passing through a one-way street, was pursued by police officers. In the ensuing chase, the officers opened fire, and a stray bullet struck another vehicle carrying the teenager, who was on his way to school to sit for a WAEC exam. The foremost monarch, who ascended the throne in July 2024, died in the early hours of Monday, July 7, 2025, after spending a year on the throne.  The demise of Oba Olakulehin, born July 5, 1935, is coming barely two days after celebrating his 90th birthday.  Oba Olakulehin received the staff of office from Oyo State Governor Engr.
