A top-level delegation from One of the Foremost Socio-Cultural Clubs in Ibadan, the Ọmọ Aj'Orosun Social Club, led by its President, Engr. Sunday Gbenjo, paid a congratulatory visit to the recently appointed Provost of Federal College of Forestry, Idi-Ishin, Jericho, Ibadan, Dr. Ibraheem Oduola Lawal Ph.D.
The Ọmọ Aj'Orosun Club is known for preserving the Cultural Values of Ibadanland and one of such is to further solidify the bond amongst its members Vis-a-vis celebrating members who are elevated and promoted at their respective places of work, business and/or crafts.
The visit, which took place at the beautiful office of the Provost, was a testament to the strong bond between the club and its esteemed member, Dr. Ibraheem Lawal. The delegation, comprising eight members, including Baale Adebayo Ajọbọ, Hon. Olusoji Alade (Social Secretary), Esv. Toyeshe Lawal (P.R.O), Barr. Waheed Alade (Legal Adviser), Mr. Mutiu Ogunmola, Mr. Kehinde David (Providence) and Mr. Uthman Hafiz, was warmly received by the Provost and the Management Team of the prestigious Tertiary Institution.
Members took their turns to share goodwill messages on the Academician who is a rare blend of excellent academic prowess and great Social stratus, which can be epitomized in his faithful discharge of duties as the General Secretary of the Club.
In his remarks, Engr. Sunday Gbenjo congratulated Dr. Ibraheem Lawal on his well-deserved appointment, saying, "This is a great honor, not only for our club but also for Ibadanland as this illustrious Ibadan son becomes the first ever Ibadan Indigene to be appointed as the Provost of Federal College of Forestry in the institution's 85 year history. We are proud to have one of our own in this esteemed position and we are confident he would not fail us."
Dr. Ibraheem Oduola Lawal, who was overwhelmed by the visit, expressed his gratitude to the delegation with affirmation that he will be a beacon of excellence that will enable more Ibadan indigenes to be appointed to such esteemed position in the future. He said "I am equally elated and humbled by this show of support and solidarity from my colleagues and friends. I pledge to work tirelessly to ensure that the Federal College of Forestry reached the heights that it deserves"
The delegation from Ọmọ Aj'Orosun was received by the management staff of the Institution which included: The Deputy Provost - Dr. E.B. Olawuyi; Registrar - Mrs. O.A Agun; Director (Consult) - Dr. O.A. Wahab; Director (Research and Innovation) - Mrs. Jayeoba.
The atmosphere was filled with joy and camaraderie as the delegation and the staff of the Institution celebrated the appointment of Dr. Ibraheem Lawal.
The Club presented the gift of a Roll-Up Banner to the Provost while his office in turn gave good hospitality and memorabilia to the delegations.
Votes of Thanks were said by Hon. Olusoji Alade and Dr. E.B Olawuyi for Ọmọ Aj'Orosun and Federal College of Forestry respectively as the meeting came to an end.
This appointment is a significant milestone in the career of Dr. Ibraheem Lawal, who is such active member of Ọmọ Aj'Orosun Social Club. His smart work has earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues as attested to by the Deputy Provost that his appointment just few months ago has brought tremendous positive changes to the Institution, in reputation and physical beauty.
