The Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, Hon. Julian Arike Nwachukwu, has joined the family, friends, associates, and political well-wishers in celebrating a quintessential leader and stalwart of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Olanrewaju Sarumi, fondly and famously known as Skido, on the joyous occasion of his birthday.

In her message of goodwill, Hon. Julian Nwachukwu described the celebrant as a man of enviable courage, a politician with a lion’s heart and a dove’s spirit, whose unwavering loyalty to the PDP and steadfastness in the pursuit of a just society stand him out among his contemporaries. She extolled his virtues as one who, despite the vicissitudes of politics, has remained resolute, resilient, and resourceful.

She recalled with admiration his gallant outing as the Candidate of the PDP in the keenly contested 2023 General Elections for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency seat, stressing that his spirit of sportsmanship and uncommon commitment to the ideals of the party is a lesson in patriotism, fortitude, and perseverance.

“As you add another year to your sojourn on this terrestrial plane, may the heavens open doors of greater opportunities for you, may your path be gilded with divine light, and may your aspirations find fulfillment in due season. Like the eagle that soars beyond the storm, may you continue to rise above challenges and stand tall as a beacon of hope to our generation. Most importantly, may the Almighty God answer even your deepest and most secret prayers, and crown your efforts with resounding success,” she prayed.

Hon. Julian Nwachukwu further enjoined the celebrant to continue to uphold the values of service, unity, and loyalty, noting that “a candle loses nothing by lighting another”, and that his impact will continue to reverberate across the landscape of Ibadan North and Oyo State at large.

She concluded by wishing him longevity in sound health, uncommon grace, and prosperity in all his future endeavors.

The foremost monarch, who ascended the throne in July 2024, died in the early hours of Monday, July 7, 2025, after spending a year on the throne.  The demise of Oba Olakulehin, born July 5, 1935, is coming barely two days after celebrating his 90th birthday.  Oba Olakulehin received the staff of office from Oyo State Governor Engr.
