Ibadan North Ward 1 Councillor, Yetunde Folarin Mourns the Passing of Political Stakeholder, Alhaji Rasheed Azeez (EGE)

The people of Ward 1, Ibadan North Local Government are mourning the passing of veteran grassroots politician and party leader, Alhaji Rasheed Azeez, popularly known as EGE, who died in the evening of Sunday, June 21, 2026.
The late political stalwart was laid to rest on Monday morning at Amuloko, Ibadan, in accordance with Islamic rites.
Until his demise, Alhaji EGE was a prominent leader of the PDP/APM in Ward 1, Ibadan North Local Government. He was widely respected for his unwavering loyalty to the party, commitment to grassroots mobilization, and dedication to the progress of his community.
Reacting to the sad development, the Councillor representing Ward 1 in Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Yetunde Ayinke Folarin, described the death of Alhaji EGE as a painful loss not only to his family but also to the political family and the entire Ward 1 community.
"Alhaji Rasheed Azeez, fondly known as EGE, was a committed party man, a dependable leader, and a passionate advocate for the welfare and progress of our people. His dedication, loyalty, and contributions to grassroots politics will continue to be remembered for years to come," Hon. Folarin said.
She noted that the late leader played a significant role in strengthening party structures and fostering unity among members, adding that his wise counsel and wealth of experience would be greatly missed.
"On behalf of the people of Ward 1, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, political associates, and all those affected by this loss. We pray that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings, grants him Al-Jannatul Firdaus, and gives everyone he left behind the fortitude to bear this painful loss," she added.
As tributes continue to pour in from political associates, community leaders, and residents, the family of the deceased has expressed appreciation for the overwhelming support and prayers received since his passing.
The family has also informed well-wishers that arrangements for the Fidau (Firdaus) prayers will be announced in due course.
Alhaji Rasheed Azeez (EGE) will be remembered for his steadfast commitment to party ideals, grassroots development, and the unity of the Ward 1 community.
May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.
