In a heartfelt tribute filled with admiration and gratitude, the 2025 Champion of Ibadan Culture and notable stalwart of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Olusoji Alade, popularly known as Hon. SOJ, has joined countless well-wishers to celebrate the birthday of one of Ibadan’s most revered political figures: Oloye Ismaila Osuolale Ashipa-Sango.

Oloye Ashipa, a respected political sage, seasoned grassroots mobiliser, and Ibadan North National Ad-hoc Delegate, marks yet another year of wisdom, leadership, and impactful public service, and the tributes pouring in reflect his enduring influence within the political landscape of Ibadan.

Hon. SOJ, who doubles as the Social Secretary of the prestigious Ọmọ Aj’Orosun Club and a celebrated business mogul in Oyo State’s capital, described Baba Ashipa as a leader whose integrity and courage remain unmatched. According to him, Chief Ashipa embodies the rare blend of fearlessness, accessibility, and refined political sophistication that sets true statesmen apart.


In his words:

“Today, I celebrate a leader who stands tall as a true political aristocrat, deeply respected within and beyond Ibadan North. He is straightforward, fearless, yet accessible to all and sundry. I speak of no other than the Great Chief Ismaila Ashipa, one of the foremost leaders of the People’s Democratic Party in Ibadan North Local Government.”

The foremost monarch, who ascended the throne in July 2024, died in the early hours of Monday, July 7, 2025, after spending a year on the throne.  The demise of Oba Olakulehin, born July 5, 1935, is coming barely two days after celebrating his 90th birthday.  Oba Olakulehin received the staff of office from Oyo State Governor Engr.
