The Councillor representing Ward 6, Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Faira, has been honoured by the League of Imams and Alfas (Ibadan North Chapter) in recognition of his outstanding commitment to the promotion of Islamic values, religious harmony, and inclusive leadership.

The event was held at Ọmọ Aj’orosun Club, Ibadan. The award celebrates Hon. Faira’s consistent efforts in uplifting the values of Islam while fostering unity and peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths and backgrounds.

According to the League, the recognition bestowed on Hon. Ibrahim Faira was anchored on his non-discriminatory leadership style, humility, and deep respect for religious institutions. As a Muslim leader, he has continued to represent Islam with dignity and honour, not only within Ward 6 but across the entire local government and beyond. His open-door policy, fairness, and people-centred approach have endeared him to constituents irrespective of religious or political affiliation.

Speaking at the event, the Coordinator of the League of Imams and Alfas, Imam Sheikh Mustapha Bello (Olohun-Ero); who also serves as the Grand Chief Imam of Sango and its environs; described Hon. Faira as “a bridge-builder whose generosity transcends religion, politics, and tribe.” He noted that the Councillor’s actions reflect the true teachings of Islam, which emphasise justice, compassion, and service to humanity.

The ceremony featured the presence of other prominent clerics, including Sheikh Imam Abdulhameed Arowolo (Life Patron), Sheikh Badmus Abd’rahamon (Vice Chairman), Sheikh Abd’Wahab Ibrahim Alarape (Accountant General), and Sheikh Imam Ibrahim Ishola (Committee Chairman). The programme was anchored by Imam Sulayman Ketefe (Odoye), while the sermon was delivered by Imam Nurudeen Nasir, who spoke extensively on leadership, accountability, and the rewards of sincere service.

Also present in solidarity were notable personalities such as Mr. Adigun Ajetola, Deacon Ayodele Faleke (G.O.C Alpha Yankee), Alh. Habeeb Olayinka (CEO, OHAA Crown Nig. Ltd.), Mógàjí Samuel Toba-Olumide and Chief Kehinde Providence, among others.

The honour further reinforces Hon. Faira’s growing reputation as a grassroots leader who places humanity above division and service above self. His recognition by the League of Imams and Alfas stands as a testament that leadership anchored on faith, fairness, and compassion will always attract honour.

“I am deeply honoured and humbled by this recognition from the League of Imams and Alfas, Ibadan North Chapter. This award means a lot to me, not just as a public office holder, but as a Muslim who strives daily to uphold the teachings and values of Islam." The Awardee, Hon. Faira stated.

“I sincerely appreciate our revered Imams and Alfas for finding me worthy of this honour. It serves as a reminder that leadership is a trust and that we must lead with justice, humility, and sincerity, without discrimination", he continued.

“I dedicate this award to the good people of Ward 6 and Ibadan North Local Government at large, whose support continues to inspire me to do more. By the grace of Allah, I will remain committed to serving humanity, promoting peace, and strengthening unity among our people.

“May Almighty Allah reward us all abundantly and grant us the wisdom to continue doing what is right. Thank you, and may Allah bless you all.” He concluded.
