In a powerful display of faith, leadership, and enduring grassroots connection, the former Councillor of Ward 8, Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Adeagbo Oluwayemisi Ogunkeyede, hosted a well-attended Ramadan Lecture and Iftar that brought together a remarkable blend of religious leaders, political stakeholders, and community members.

The event, held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at SPAC Street, Poly Road, Sango, Ibadan, commenced at about 4:00 PM and quickly transformed into a convergence of influence and community spirit, attracting the crème de la crème across various sectors.

Delivering the Ramadan lecture was renowned Islamic scholar, Alfa GBADAMOSI OLALEKAN MUIDEEN, whose sermon centered on piety, unity, compassion, and the importance of giving; values that resonated deeply with attendees during this sacred season.

The gathering was graced by prominent political figures, including State PDP Executive member, Alhaji Lukman Alága Mewa; the PDP Chairman in Ibadan North Local Government, Alhaji Comrade S.A Mustapha; the Local Government Party Secretary; PDP Women Leader, Mrs. Adebola Babalola; and the Local Government Youth Leader.

Also present were Ward 8 PDP executives and respected party leaders such as Alhaji Razaq Adekola (50/50), Mama Ife, Mama Patako, and Tawa Warrior. Other notable attendees included the Special Assistant to Hon. Don, the Supervisory Councillor, Hon. Afeez Azeez, alongside all 12 Ward Youth Leaders in Ibadan North Local Government.

Additional dignitaries such as Hon. Abidemi Sanni, Otunba Olanrewaju Soremekun, Alfa Olalere, and a host of others added prestige and vibrancy to the event, underscoring its significance within the local political and social landscape.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Ogunkeyede expressed deep appreciation to all attendees for honoring her invitation:

“I am truly overwhelmed by the love and support shown here today. I sincerely appreciate every individual who took out time to be part of this Ramadan lecture and Iftar. Your presence is a testament to the unity and strength of our community.”

She further emphasized the importance of togetherness and continuous engagement:

"Even beyond public office, my commitment to the good people of Ward 8 remains unwavering. Ramadan teaches us compassion, service, and unity; values I will continue to uphold with all of you.”

The event also featured heartfelt commendations from members of her ward, who praised her consistency and accessibility even after leaving office.

One community leader remarked:

"It is rare to see a former councillor remain this connected to her people. For over two years since leaving office, Hon. Yemisi has continued to check on us, support initiatives, and stay involved in the progress of Ward 8.”

Another attendee added:

"She has shown that leadership is beyond holding a position. Her relationship with the people is genuine, and today’s event is just another example of her dedication to the community.”

The Iftar session that followed the lecture further strengthened bonds among attendees, as people from diverse backgrounds shared meals and engaged in meaningful interactions.

Hon. Ogunkeyede’s Ramadan initiative stands as a shining example of selfless leadership, community service, and enduring political relevance. Her ability to maintain strong ties with her constituents even after leaving office highlights a rare commitment to grassroots development and unity.

As Ramadan ends today, this gathering will be remembered not just as an event, but as a reaffirmation of faith, leadership, and the power of community.
