CCII Set to Honour Hon. Olusoji Olusegun Alade (SOJ) as Icon of Ibadan Heritage at 2026 Cultural Festival

The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), the apex socio-cultural body representing the collective voice of Ibadan indigenes worldwide, has announced its decision to confer a prestigious heritage honour on Hon. Olusoji Olusegun Alade (SOJ) as part of activities marking the 2026 Ibadan Cultural Festival.
In a formal letter dated March 27, 2026, the Council disclosed that the revered traditional ruler of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Sen.) Rashidi Adewolu Akanmu Ladoja (Arusa I), alongside the leadership of the CCII, extends warm greetings and commendation to the distinguished awardee.
The letter, signed by the CCII President-General, Barr. Chief Sulaiman Ajeniyi Ajewole, emphasized that the honour is in recognition of Hon. Alade’s “immense contributions to the growth and development of Ibadanland,” describing him as a shining example of commitment to cultural preservation and community advancement.
Hon. Olusoji Olusegun Alade (SOJ), who was celebrated as the CCII 2025 Champion of Ibadan Culture, has continued to distinguish himself through sustained efforts in promoting the rich heritage, unity, and socio-economic progress of Ibadanland.
According to the Council, the conferment of the title “Icon of Ibadan Heritage” is not only a recognition of past achievements but also a call to greater service, as it is expected to inspire others to emulate his dedication to cultural values and grassroots development.
The prestigious award ceremony is scheduled to hold on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the Ibadan Civic Centre, Idi-Ape, Ibadan, under the auspices of the 2026 Ibadan Cultural Festival Planning Committee.
The event will be chaired by Mogaji Moshood Gbadebo Akere, who serves as the Chairman of the 2026 Ibadan Cultural Festival Planning Committee, while the entire programme is being coordinated by the CCII leadership under Barr. Ajewole.
The CCII reiterated its unwavering commitment to the preservation of Ibadan’s cultural heritage and the promotion of unity among its people, noting that the Ibadan Cultural Festival remains a vital platform for celebrating identity, tradition, and progress.
As anticipation builds toward the grand event, stakeholders, dignitaries, and lovers of Ibadan culture are expected to gather in large numbers to celebrate a man widely regarded as a true ambassador of Ibadan heritage.
The honour for Hon. Alade stands as yet another testament to CCII’s enduring mission of “Uniting for Development” and recognizing individuals whose contributions continue to shape the future of Ibadanland.
