The leadership of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Ibadan North Local Government Chapter, under the chairmanship of Alhaji Comrade S. Ademuyiwa Mustapha, has commended the Governor of Oyo State and Presidential Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for what it described as his calm, strategic and result-oriented leadership that culminated in the successful rescue of the abducted schoolchildren and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area.
In a statement issued by the party leadership, the chapter described the safe return of the victims as a moment of great relief, thanksgiving and renewed hope, not only for the affected families but for the people of Oyo State and Nigerians at large.
The APM leadership congratulated the rescued schoolchildren, teachers, their parents and the entire Oriire community for the successful conclusion of what had become one of the state's most painful security challenges.
According to the statement, the rescue operation demonstrated that purposeful leadership, strategic planning and effective collaboration among government institutions can produce positive outcomes, even in the most difficult circumstances.
The party particularly applauded Governor Seyi Makinde for displaying uncommon maturity and restraint throughout the crisis. Rather than making sensational public statements capable of jeopardising ongoing rescue efforts, the Governor quietly coordinated with the Federal Government and relevant security agencies, ensuring that every available resource was deployed towards securing the freedom of the victims.
"True leadership is not always loud. Sometimes, the greatest achievements are recorded through patience, wisdom, careful planning and decisive action. Governor Seyi Makinde demonstrated these rare leadership qualities throughout this unfortunate incident, and today, the people of Oyo State are celebrating the safe return of innocent children and their teachers," the statement read.
The chapter also expressed profound appreciation to the Federal Government, the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), intelligence operatives and every other security personnel whose courage, professionalism and sacrifice contributed to the successful rescue mission.
While celebrating the joyful outcome, the party remembered those who lost their lives during the unfortunate incident, praying that Almighty God grants them eternal rest and comforts their families.
The APM Ibadan North leadership further prayed that Oyo State and Nigeria would never again witness such a painful experience, urging governments at all levels to continue investing in intelligence gathering, community policing, security collaboration and proactive measures that would protect schools and communities from criminal activities.
According to the party, the successful rescue should serve as a turning point in strengthening public confidence in responsible governance and coordinated security operations.
The statement also drew attention to the symbolic significance of the name Oriire, which translates to "Good Fortune" or "Good Destiny." It noted that after weeks of uncertainty and anxiety, good fortune eventually prevailed over fear, bringing joy back to families that had almost lost hope.
The leadership expressed confidence that the same spirit of resilience, purposeful leadership and good fortune would continue to accompany Governor Seyi Makinde and the Allied Peoples Movement as Oyo State moves closer to the 2027 general elections.
It maintained that the Governor's handling of the crisis has further strengthened public confidence in his leadership and demonstrated the value of unity, cooperation and responsible governance in addressing complex security challenges.
The party concluded by calling on residents of Oyo State to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information, while encouraging all stakeholders to work collectively towards building a safer, more peaceful and prosperous state.
"As we rejoice with the rescued children, teachers and their families, we return all glory to Almighty God for answering the prayers of millions of Nigerians. We pray that such an unfortunate incident never happens again in Oyo State or anywhere in our country.
"This victory belongs to every praying parent, every committed security operative, every compassionate citizen and every leader who placed the sanctity of human life above every other consideration."
